ANSWER -YES! Google stated that the Google Play Store, the Android app store, and the security features which come with Android, will continue to be available on existing Huawei devices.

Huawei Devices that are not affected by the Google Ban-

1. Huawei P30: P30 Pro, P30, P30 Lite 

2. Huawei P Smart 

3. Huawei Mate 20: Mate 20 Pro, Mate 20, Mate 20 Lite, Mate 20 X 

4. Huawei P20: P20 Pro, P20, P20 Lite

5. Huawei Mate 10: Mate 10 Pro, Mate  10, Mate 10 Lite

6. Huawei P10: P10 Plus, P10, P10 Lite

What the Google Ban On Huawei Phone means for you…

1. You can still update your Google Apps and Phone

2. You cannot update to a newer version of Android operating systems

3. Your old Huawei version phone and the Huawei P30 range and Mate 20x5G is good to use with Google

4. The newer Models like the upcoming Mate 30 range will not have Important Android services, this means No Google map, no Gmail, no Google Play, amongst other Android Apps

5.  This also means Google is no longer going to provide technical support and collaboration for Android and Google services to Huawei.

Why this is happening?

 Google is doing this because Donald Trump passed a law which aims to ban the Chinese company’s equipment from US networks(Google is one of the US networks)

This is because they believe company’s links to the Chinese government. This ban will affect South Africans as it is one of Huawei’s biggest phone consumers.
